‘The truth of contradictions and exceptions’
is a group exhibition that reinterpretes the concept of antinomy. The
exhibition, curated by four participant artists, features how
methodology follows, and belies at the same time, artworks. While art
is to see the world differently without any commercial or political
propagandas, there are still extraordinariness to be discovered in
ordinary life. And this is the reason it is worth trying to find hidden
dimensions inbetween. By examining what we take for granted, four artists speak of contradictions lie between fact and fiction in our everyday life.

이율배반의 기술력
현대미술에서 새로운 시작을 만들기란 그 자체로 모순일지 모르겠다. 미국의 개념미술가 더글라스 후블러는 이미 60년대에 '세상은
다소 재미의 차이가 있을 뿐 이미 오브제로 가득 차 있다. 더 이상 보태고 싶지 않다.'고 발언했다. 이러한 태도는 관심의
시발점을 주변의 일상 생활로 돌리는 데에도 크게 작용한다. 예술이 존재하는 이유는 상업적이거나 정치적인 구호를 외치기 위해서가
아니라 단지 세상을 달리보기 위함이다. 즉, 우리 주변에는 여전히 비상한 범상함이 발견되기를 기다리고 있는 것이다. 그리고 이
비상하고도 범상한 차원을 보기 위해 우리는 익숙한 것을 뒤집어보고 빼고 바꾸어 보는 노력을 들이는 것이다. 이율배반이라는 부정의
부정을 이끄는 역설적 개념은 바로 모순이 시작되는 지점에서 또 다른 논리의 시작을 알리면서 새로운 차원을 열어준다. 생소함은
익숙하지 않은 것과 동시에 익숙한 것에서 출발한다. 네 작가는 당연하지만 당연하지 않은 진실과 허구 사이에 존재하는 모순에 관한
각자의 발언을 꾀하려 한
